Cubase is a great audio recording software. It's been around since the days of Atari and today's version is a feature packed digital audio workstation.
Steinberg has the perfect alternative if you don't like the monopoly of Digidesign's Pro-Tools and aren't a huge Mac fan. A perfect match for home recording enthusiasts. It is the little brother of the bigger Nuendo program, and although they seem exactly alike to the average user, there are subtle differences between them.
Don't get me wrong, the program is a fully functional and powerful
stand-alone audio software. But some people tend to prefer the extra
differences and features Nuendo offers. If we put it in the simplest
terms, Cubase is aimed at home recording studios while Nuendo is aimed
at commercial studios and post production facilities.
Cubase 5 comes with fully integrated
new tools for working with loops, beats and vocals, such as LoopMash
and VariAudio, combining with new composition features and the first
VST3 convolution reverb to take musical creativity to new heights. With
stunning innovations and additional enhancements that boost
productivity and performance, Cubase 5 represents the absolute cutting
edge in digital audio workstations.
Here is an introduction to some of its features:
There is a whole load of tutorial videos available on Youtube and one could almost create a whole webpage dedicated to this specific software. If you are interested in learning more about the product check it out at the link here below.
I across more and more people that are using Cubase in their projects. I grew up with the notion that you would either get Pro-Tools or nothing. But I was proven wrong very quickly when I discovered all the other options for home recording.
Don't feel pressured to get a Pro-Tools system unless you really like the software. There are so many audio programs out there that you should take the time to check most of them out, demoing their features before you make the often hefty purchase.
