Create Versatile Acoustic treatment for your Home recording Studio

In your home recording studio you need to acoustically treat your recording room. You can either buy the acoustic treatment needed for your studio, or you can build it yourself.

The advantage of building the treatment yourself is that you can design it to your specifications and needs. This can mean some pretty interesting and versatile designs.

The pictures below show an example of some acoustic absorbers that serve two purposes. They absorb frequencies, but they can also be used to reflect them.

These absorbers are filled with sound absorptive material. They are hung on the wall to reduce reflections and absorb frequencies. Usually, they are placed with the soft side facing forward and that way act as absorbers. But the design ingenuity behind them is that when you need some extra liveness to your room, you just turn the absorbers around and voila!

Instant hard surfaces for some reflections!

Conclusion

Take versatility into account when creating acoustic treatment for your home studio.

Even though you know you'll need a considerable amount of absorption for your studio, it's a good idea to have a reflective side on the back if you ever find yourself needing some extra reflections.
