The Digidesign Mbox 2 family comes in a few shapes and sizes depending on your needs. Everything from a micro usb key that only powers Pro-Tools to a Pro version that comes close to rivaling the Digi 003 family.
There are many choices to choose from and you should take into account all the possible scenarios you might encounter. There's nothing worse than trying to record something like drum with an interface that can only handle two or three mics.
So be sure you want a small interface before you part with your cash. Otherwise check out the Digi 003 if you want enough tracks for drums for example.
I would recommend the Micro only for users that already have nice pre-amps or interfaces and only need access to the Pro-Tools system. As it doesn't have any inputs, outputs or anything like that it is really only a dongle used to run Pro-Tools.
This Mbox is a great option for the home studio enthusiast that wants to be able to record a few instruments like guitar and vocals. As it only has a couple of inputs it is perfect for singer/songwriters or producers only needing Pro Tools to work on.
The Mbox Pro is at the top of the Mbox family of interfaces. It sports 6 inputs, but only 2 of them are XLR inputs. So if you need a more hardcore solution to your recording , i.e. if you are recording drums or similar things that need more inputs I recommend checking out Digidesign's Digi line of interfaces.
