Audio
engineering courses and music production schools have gotten very
popular throughout the years. There are so many colleges, universities,
private schools and institutions that teach audio engineering and music
recording that it's overwhelming to find them all online.
The world is a huge place. Although you might find yourself in situations where you think the world is small, it is actually deceptively huge.
For some of you that are trying to find that perfect audio
course I can only offer the small findings I found during my own
research.
Here are some links and resources to the audio engineering schools that I was interested in when I was looking around. But please help with the list. If you know of any schools or are currently enrolled in one, help make the list a bigger one!
I am a graduate from the audio engineering program at the SAE Institute in Madrid. Before deciding on enrolling at the SAE Institute I was looking at courses and schools all over the world. SAE has a network of campuses in every corner of the world, so when I decided on SAE, that didn't mean I had decided on a certain campus.
I nailed down a few positions; Nashville, New York, London, Melbourne and Madrid. Finally I decided it'd be cool to learn some Spanish alongside audio so I headed to Madrid for my studies.
As well as campuses all over the world, SAE also offers small courses online at SaeOnline.Com.
A friend of mine went to SSR(School of Sound Recording) and loved it. It's located in Manchester, England and according to my friend, has an amazing facility and atmosphere. The city of Manchester is also musically historical since many famous bands emerged from the so-called Manchester scene of the 1980's. Bands like The Smiths, Joy Division and The Stone Roses all emerged from Manchester.
I stumbled upon this place when searching for music production schools around Tucson, Arizona. I don't know a lot about it except for the fact that it's supposed to be the most high-tech recording school in Arizona. With California so close with it's bundle of recording schools and entertainment colleges I can't imagine the competition they have to deal with to get people to stay in Arizona.
I stumbled upon this school when they name-dropped Audio Issues in their 10 Resources for Audio Production and Engineering Students
I was pleasantly surprised to find that this school was located in Minnesota. I spent a part of my childhood in Minnesota so it's one of the first US states that Americanized my Icelandic self. They seem like an awesome school with a lot of student resources and support.
I had the pleasure of being given a tour of Berklee's production studios by a student there. It's no wonder it's one of the biggest music production school in the USA since it has absolutely amazing facilites. Everything for the aspiring music students can be found there, whether you want to study an instrument, music recording or electronic music.
I was also wondering about you! Are you searching for music production schools? Are you currently enrolled in an audio engineering or music program at a certain university you want people to know about?
Let the community know about the resources that you are aware of. I know there are so many more schools and programs out there. I wouldn't even know where to start researching all the other countries that might have awesome recording programs.
The United States, Europe, Asia, Australia. All of them have many, many more programs than I could figure out by myself. Are you studying in some program and would like to comment on it? Use the form below to add your thoughts and let people know about this particular school.
As you contribute and comment on more schools, I will continue to add your comments and suggestions to the list above. Not only will you get your own page here below, but I will continue to edit this page with whatever you have to say.
Do you know of any recording schools or audio courses? Whether you've heard good things about them, personally know the school from experience or heard great stuff online, let us know. I'll constantly update this page with your personal contributions.
